Meet Stephanie

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Stephanie Guerrero Sáenz is a wife, mother, and public school teacher who has spent her life serving the community that raised her. The daughter of a Marine Corps veteran, Stephanie was raised to believe in hard work, service to others, and giving back to her community. For nearly 30 years, she has worked in public education, helping students succeed while fighting for stronger public schools, higher teacher pay, and greater opportunities for the next generation. She has always believed that public service is about helping people and creating opportunities for others to thrive.

Stephanie's commitment to Nueces County extends far beyond the classroom. She has been active in local civic and cultural organizations, her church, and the Democratic Party for decades, volunteering on campaigns since her twenties and later serving as Organizing Director of the Nueces County Democratic Party and a member of the Texas State Democratic Executive Committee. A lifelong learner and proud supporter of the arts, culture, and South Texas traditions, Stephanie believes Nueces County deserves a representative who will always put people ahead of special interests. Like many Coastal Bend families, Stephanie has felt the strain of rising healthcare costs, higher grocery and gas prices, and the growing challenge of making ends meet. That's why she's running to fight for stronger public schools, affordable healthcare, protect our natural resources, lower costs, and greater economic opportunity for working families—because every Texan deserves a fair shot at success.

Issues

  • Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Stephanie has spent her life serving the community that raised her — as a teacher, advocate, mentor, and leader committed to making Nueces County stronger for the next generation.

  • Stephanie has spent nearly 30 years as a public school teacher, fighting for stronger public schools, increased classroom funding, higher teacher pay, and better opportunities for students. She believes every child deserves a great education, no matter their zip code — including access to universal pre-K and affordable pathways to college or vocational training. Stephanie has also stood up to MAGA Republicans trying to rewrite history and remove diverse voices from textbooks because she believes students deserve an honest education that prepares them to think critically and succeed.

  • Stephanie believes access to affordable, quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. After seeing healthcare costs skyrocket for teachers and working families alike, she knows too many families are being forced to choose between paying bills and getting the care they need. Stephanie supports lowering prescription drug costs, protecting Medicare and Medicaid, and expanding access to affordable healthcare for every Texan.

  •  Stephanie knows working families are being squeezed by rising grocery prices, higher gas costs, and an economy that too often leaves people behind. She's committed to building an economy that works for working families—not just the wealthy few—by lowering costs, supporting small businesses, raising the minimum wage, investing in job training, protecting workers' rights to organize, and expanding opportunity so every Texan has a fair shot to get ahead.

  • Stephanie believes economic growth and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. She supports investments in water security, resilient infrastructure, and innovative energy solutions that create jobs while protecting the bays, waterways, and natural resources that make the Coastal Bend unique. Stephanie is committed to safeguarding clean air and water and ensuring future generations inherit a strong, prosperous, and resilient region.
